IoT in Healthcare : Uniting Patients with Care Givers

Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed numerous industries including healthcare and has worked wonders in connecting the patients with caregivers and vice versa. The full application of this epitome in the healthcare arena has been a blessing in disguise as it has initiated medical centers to function more capable and patients to obtain enhanced treatment. With the use of this technology-based healthcare methodology, there has been inception of exceptional benefits which could enhance the quality and coherence of treatments and accordingly improve the health of the patients.

The healthcare industry has been a pioneer in adopting the IoT mechanisms to evolve themselves in the process of caregiving. One can clearly say that incorporating IoT features into medical devices greatly enhances the quality and effectiveness of service, bringing high value for the elderly patients especially, patients with chronic conditions, and those requiring constant supervision.

Real-time reporting and monitoring:

During some emergency medical situations such as heart failure, asthma attacks, diabetes, or even an accident, the real-time observation through connected devices can save many lives. Through real-time monitoring of the condition in place via a smart medical device connected to a smartphone app, these connected devices can accumulate medical and other requisite health data and use the data connection of the smartphone to transport collected information to a physician.

Data Collection for Enhanced Care:

The IoT devices collect and transfer health data ranging from blood pressure, oxygen and blood sugar levels, ECGs and weight. Cloud storage is utilized to save these information, and you can share them with an authorized person who can be a physician, a participating health firm, the insurance company or an external consultant, to permit them to look at the collected data regardless of their place, time, or device.

End-to-end connectivity:

IoT can mechanize patient care workflow with the assistance of healthcare mobility solution and other new technologies, and next-gen healthcare facilities. IoT enables interoperability, machine-to-machine communication, data movement and information exchange that makes healthcare service delivery efficiency.

Connectivity protocols & Cost-effective:

Healthcare employees can change the way they recognize illness and ailments in patients and can also add revolutionary ways of treatment by using Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, Z-wave, ZigBee, and other modern devices. As a result, technology-driven setup carries down the cost, by cutting down needless visits, exploiting better quality resources, and augmenting the allocation and planning.

Tracking & alerts:

On-time alert is critical in event of life-threatening circumstances. IoT allows devices to gather important data and transfer that data to doctors for real-time tracking, while giving notifications to people about critical parts through mobile apps and other linked devices. Reports and alerts give the care provider a firm opinion about the patient’s condition, irrespective of place and time. It also assists in making well-versed decisions and offer on-time treatment. IoT enabled real-time alerting, tracking, and monitoring gives the opportunity for hands-on treatments, apt intervention by doctors, better accuracy, and improves comprehensive patient care delivery results.

Remote medical assistance:

In the episode of an emergency, patients can communicate with a doctor who is maybe away through a smartphone apps. With mobility solutions in healthcare, the doctors can instantaneously check the patients and recognize the ailments on-the-go.

Experts say numerous healthcare delivery chains have started forecasting towards building machines that can hand out medications on the basis of patient’s prescription and sickness-related data available via linked devices.

Hence it can be rightfully concluded that IoT will Improve the patient’s care in hospital, resulting in cutting down of people’s expanse on healthcare. This revolutionary technology can enhance healthcare facilities in a major way, causing larger effects for all mankind.
